Well, it is 2009 and I would like to wish you all a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Due to your overwhelming support and encouragement it is time for us to begin our run for the 112th Congress. Not winning is something that I take very seriously but I would be remiss if I just walked away from the great base that we have established. The reason that I ran in the first place was to change this culture of corruption that is our government and to restore our America. Everyday we see how corrupt our government officials are. We see how our politicians are just out for their own good, not the good of the people......the way it should be. This pay to play mentality that our politicians use, at the expense of our citizens is not the way our government is supposed to work.
We still need to elect "non-politicians" that are going to look out for what is in the best interest of our citizens.......of our children, regardless of what our current politicians perceive is in the best interest of their political party or the special interest group that is contributing to their re-election campaign.
Our Congressman, more importantly, my children's Congressman is under federal investigation for matters relating to money laundering, residential issues, being involved with "pump and dump" stock companies, making unlawful mortgages to private individuals for political contributions, gambling ties, etc. He has direct ties to Chicago stock companies that contributed to his PAC and he has direct financial ties to Rod Blagojevich. He is part of this culture of corruption and we need someone with the courage to stand up to him and to stand up for our citizens and for our children. I was that man in November of 2008 and I will be that man in November of 2010.
Our government is out for the 535 privileged people in the senate and in the house of representatives, which is an oxy moron if I ever heard one, "the house of representatives". We know who they are really representing! Senate majority leader, Harry Reid has come up with who he wants and who he does not want to take Barack Obama's now vacant senate seat. The audacity of this man is unprecedented. He does not have the right to determine who "he" wants in the senate to represent Illinois. The people of Illinois are the only ones that have that right. Illinois Governor, Rod Blagoevich does not have the right to sell that seat either. Barney Frank told us for years that Fannie and Freddie were in great shape. We now know that was a lie. He is either ignorant or complicite. Either way, he is not doing his job as chairman of the financial services committee (which Robert Wexler served on).
Bernie Madoff, admittedly, guilty of the largest "Ponzi" scheme in history was never investigated by the SEC despite several reports of financial impropriety. Our government, once again, dropped the ball on that one costing many, many people (many of whom live in District 19) their life savings. It is not too much to believe that our government turned a blind eye. Keep in mind, our government is responsible for the true, biggest "Ponzi" scheme of all time...social security.
Finally, we have the "bailouts". Enough is enough already. We need to stop bailing out companies, industries and individuals that do not deserve to be bailed out. We can not take out the risk of being in business. When a company does poorly or rips off their investors, they deserve to go out of business. If we take the risk out of being in business, there will be no incentive for any large corporation to do the right thing and the people at the top of the food chain will continue to rip off the company since the government will come the rescue when the company runs out of money.
Who is going to bailout our small businesses? When is the government going to bailout the taxpayers? When will our government start representing "the people"? The answer is, when we start electing people......not politicians. This is why I am continuing my run to represent you, and my children, in congress. We need a congressman who is not afraid to lead and, more importantly, not afraid to represent and serve his constituency.
